MOST COMMON MISTAKES NEWBIES MAKE ON FACEBOOK
Facebook is ranked amongst the largest
social networking site though with an education focus in the world today with
over 845 million active users worldwide and had over 2.7 billion daily likes
and comments
BUT HOW DID IT ALL BEGAN?.
What was the sole purpose behind the
creation of facebook? Mark zuckerberg founded facebook while
studying psychology at Harvard university, he had developed similar social
networking websites for fellow students like coursematch which allowed users to
view people taking their degree and facemash, where you could rate peoples attractiveness. In febuary 2004, zuckebreg launched the
facebook as it was already known, the name was taken from the sheets of paper
distributed to freshman, profiling students and staff Mark also stated that he
wanted to create a website that can connect people around the university (Harvard). Facebooks mission statement claims it wants
to make the world a more open and connected place since social media is all
about openness and sharing. Can it be said that facecook inc has fully achieved
it’s aims and objectives or is there still more work left undone. The truth is
that since the inception, facebook has grown from grass to grace with millions
of users worldwide. Without been told facebook has done a great job in changing
the way people mingle online such as
1. Illuminating conversations
2. Scam and spamming
3. Job search
4. work online from home
5. job opportunity
6. advert tunnel
5 most Common mistakes newbies make on
facebook
1. incomplete profile. When creating your
profile, you should understand that Outside being a social networking site, facebook
is also a marketplace that is to say that it is like a open field or a space
where once you post anything clicks.. the next
second millions of people around the globe will have access to your
profile and again it is very common and rather disappointing when your friends access
your profile page and fail to find any information about it. they don’t know
what it is about, what’s its goal, where you are located, whether you has a website or not,
among other things Like your recent events, likes and dislikes. It is essential for you that you complete all the information
of your profile.
2. . YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE
TERMS AND CONDITIONS. It’s necessary that as owners and administrators of your pages in
social networks you know the terms and conditions to do things right, not just because this is the way it should be but because Facebook
might review your page and cancel it. Definitely this
would mean a much bigger problem than simply reading the tedious terms and
conditions.
3. YOU ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN LIKES AND DISLIKES. This is a very logical point but sometimes we
forget to put ourselves in the user’s shoes, Accessing a profile page and realizing the only thing they publish are posts
related to the oneself etc. is boring! This is necessary but it cannot be the
ONLY thing you publish. It’s not very pleasant to be around
people that only talk about themselves and that don’t care about you, that can’t be
bothered to ask about your life or your family. We tend to avoid people who are
all about “me me me me”. Actually, in this case your fans come first and then yourself. First you must create the
space, the community, the trust, the loyalty. You have to pamper your audience, listen to
them, if necessary ask them their opinion. It is your job to establish the
basis of a friendship
4. YOU DON’T ANSWER TO
COMMENTS.This
point is essential to reinforce the relationship with your
fans. If someone went through the trouble of writing an enquiry or a
complaint about something, please answer. This
point is closely related to the previous one because we discuss doing things so your audience will
want to follow you. Share
with your fans information that can improve their
quality of life or their work. Make
your fans feel special. Answer promptly to their questions. They need to
perceive you are reading them and that you are interested in their concerns.
5. YOU REALLY WANT TO BE PART OF ALL SOCIAL NETWORKS. Many people want to be part of all social
network. They create a Youtube channel, a profile in Twitter, Facebook,
Linkedin, Pinterest, Vine, etc, etc, etc. But honestly it will do you no good if you cannot sustain it
throughout time. start with one,
maybe two, and once you are an expert handling them then you can widen your
scope to other social networks.
