SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the art of influencing
the ranking of a website in a Search Engine Results Page for relevant target
keywords. Online marketing has taken advertising to a whole new level, this
rise in internet usage means an equivalent rise in online marketing, and that
obviously means more consumers are online. It is an established fact that so many
Africans have access to the internet and
70% of these people use search engines most especially Google to find the
information that they require. Currently, only a small percentage of these
African businesses implement a SEO strategy. This means that the level of SEO
competition is very low across many different industries. Business and website
owners should be taking advantage of this opportunity. Over the next five years
the level of SEO competition will become increasingly higher and it will be
difficult to rank well in Google for the majority of keywords across all
industries. It is without a doubt that SEO is a growing industry in Africa and
that its potential as an internet marketing strategy shouldn’t be ignored, with
the rise of social media and changes in Google algorithms, there are a
multitude of internet marketing strategies which can provide companies with
great advertising for a much cheaper price and for proven better results and search
engine optimization is one of these strategies.
